"The LifeBook U810 (known as the LifeBook U1010 or FMV-U8240 in other markets) packs quite a few features into its 1.56 pound frame. The device features a 5.6" 1024x600 LCD, 800MHz Intel A110 processor, 1GB DDR2 memory, 40GB hard drive, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, Atheros Super AG 802.11a/b/g wireless, 10/100 NIC, USB 2.0 port, VGA port, CompactFlash slot, Secure Digital slot, QWERTY keyboard and a Fingerprint sensor. The aforementioned 5.6" display screen can be used in a traditional "laptop" view for easy thumb-typing with the QWERTY keyboard or swiveled 180 degrees and laid flat atop of the keyboard to use the U810 in "slate" mode. Fujitsu says that its LifeBook U810 has a battery life of 5.5 hours via its 4-cell, 5200mAh lithium-ion battery. Sony invests $99 mln in Singapore battery plant
SINGAPORE, Aug 14 (Reuters) - Sony Corp. said on Tuesday it will invest S$150 million ($99 million) into a lithium ion battery plant in Singapore to start operations in August next year. Sony said in a statement that the factory would employ around 500 workers once it is fully operational in 2010. Ion lithium batteries are used in mobile phones and laptops. Dwan Strokes of Killona receives 20-year term
LAPLACE - St. Charles Parish District Attorney Harry J. Morel said that his office successfully concluded an eight-month-old case of armed robbery and sexual battery, when accused Dwan Storks, 27, of Killona pled guilty in exchange for a 20-year sentence.For the next two decades, Storks will serve under the Louisiana Department of Corrections without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence. He will also be forced to register as a sex offender upon his release.Storks confessed to attacking a Luling woman, and stealing her laptop and money, on November 12, 2006, after following her home from a gas station that night. According to police reports, Storks walked up to her house and gained entry to the residence by pretending to need directions.Once inside, police reports say he pistol-whipped the woman, sexually assaulted her, and kidnapped her from her home.Acting in cooperation with the U.S.
Sony, Apple sued over fire injuries to Osaka laptop user
OSAKA (Kyodo) An Osaka Prefecture couple have filed a lawsuit seeking around 2 million yen from the Japanese unit of Apple Inc. and Sony Corp., claiming the husband suffered burns after their laptop caught fire due to its Sony-made battery. The U.S. computer manufacturer has already paid the couple money for the laptop but has refused to pay 1 million yen in compensation, the couple told reporters Wednesday. .
Toshiba Issues Third Sony Battery Recall
As if consumers haven't heard enough on the subject, Toshiba on Friday issued its third recall related to malfunctioning Sony batteries that could overheat and potentially explode. This time around, only 1,400 batteries are affected for the company's Satellite A100, Satellite A105 and Terca A7 laptop models. According to an advisory from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, "Consumers should stop using the recalled batteries and contact Toshiba to receive a free replacement battery."
